As we celebrate National Military Appreciation Month, we at IntelliDyne are united in honoring our active and veteran military personnel and their families for their great contributions and sacrifices to our country. We are especially grateful for a segment of the IntelliDyne workforce made up of active reservists and veterans – 26% and growing!
Everyday, IntelliDyne is building relationships with the military community and strengthening its position as an employer of choice for veterans, reservists, and military spouses. We’ve been recognized as a V3 (Virginia Values Veterans) Certified Company and ranked in the top 10 of 2019’s Best Companies for Veterans by Monster.com. We’ve also received the U.S. Department of Labor’s Hire Vets Platinum Award and a Veteran Service Award from the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) Veterans Employment Initiative.
Aside from these awards and accolades, our employees really give us the recognition that we are most proud of – that of a true community. One that values hard work and collaboration, and is passionate about making an impact on our country and the government agencies that run it. In fact, IntelliDyne’s federal clients give our growing number of veteran employees the opportunity to continue serving the mission of many of those agencies – the Department of Defense, U.S. Navy, Defense Health Agency, and the Department of Homeland Security, among others.
For us, the choice to hire veterans, reservists and military spouses and give them the tools they need to thrive is a simple one. In both our professional activities and community outreach we see how military experience and culture aligns with IntelliDyne’s core values: commitment, integrity, quality, loyalty, teamwork, and diversity. Military experience instills great respect for process, a strong work ethic, and unparalleled leadership skills – all attributes that we value highly in our workforce. From systems administrators, network engineers and helpdesk technicians to data scientists, web developers and business intelligence analysts – IntelliDyne puts military experience to use in highly rewarding civilian careers.
“IntelliDyne understands the language and culture of the military. We pair new and seasoned veterans to help ease the transition from service member to civilian.”
― Eric DiMarco, Security Manager, Network Operations
IntelliDyne does not take its commitment to helping veterans, reservists, and military spouses excel lightly. We back up our goals to help our employees succeed through structured activities and initiatives, such as our unique Military Resource Group (MRG). The MRG provides a specific framework through which we recruit, retain and serve veterans and their families. Case in point: Benefits. Employment incentives for military communities are unique to their specific needs and concerns. Therefore, in addition to our already generous benefits package, IntelliDyne also offers paid military leave, permanent change of housing leave, educational assistance, dependent care, certification training, and flexible schedules for qualified candidates.
We also help our employees stay connected to their communities and each other through MRG-sponsored events for veteran-focused non-profits. Over the years, we’ve hosted care package assembly parties, cheered each other on at races and other sporting events, and given back to our local neighborhoods and national communities alike. One of the events we coordinate annually is a volunteer day with the Fisher House Foundation. Employees roll up their sleeves at locations across the US to help maintain the homes and grounds of Fisher Houses, where military and veteran families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital. To honor the Month of the Military Child in April, we provided support to Blue Star Families by creating hundreds of care packages to be distributed to military children. Last year we teamed up with Tech for Troops to collect and donate used technology for distribution to veterans and their families. We’ve also conducted clothing drives for Final Salute to support female veterans with gently used clothes as they transition to civilian life. In addition we’ve hosted fundraisers and provided support to organizations such as the Semper Fi & America’s Fund, Wounded Warrior Project, and the Tragedy Assistance Program For Survivors (TAPS), to name a few. We enjoy this time with each other and the sense of purpose it gives us, together! There’s no doubt that it has strengthened our employee community and working relationships.
“26% of our employees are veterans—so we have a deep understanding of the demands and challenges of military life—and a sense of community and commitment to each other.”
― CeCe Sorg, Director of Recruiting, Military Resource Group Co-Chair
In short, IntelliDyne understands that veterans, reservists, and military spouses are often driven by something larger than themselves—the need to be part of a team with a common goal and vision. We are proud to have created a culture where our employees truly feel that they are part of something bigger.
